1939 SWB with packet for review

    Hi Guys,

I bought this 1939 SWB with packet some years ago from a dealer I trusted. However, I now certainly have doubts about the packet and also the badge does n't look right to me, especially the way the pin is marked with a '4'. Is this a floch? I would be very pleased to hear what people think.

Many thanks for looking and for all comments.

    All the best, Guy

Is there no one who can give an opinion on the badge?

Many thanks, all the best, Guy

A strange one indeed. Is there another "4" under the hook?

Thanks Stukapilot - no, there is no '4' under the catch, just on the pin. It's a nice looking badge but not sure whether it's original or not.

Looks like a good S&L zincer with lots of finish left to me.

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Thanks, Hans and Steve, but what gives it away as a Staegemeir fake? I am still learning.

Many thanks, all the best, Guy

Well that is hard to explain as the fakes gets improved with time and i am quite certain that he follows the forums as well. But for starters the maker mark on the pin is too big and there are certain "fingerprints" such as flaws, wrong metal, wrong finish etc etc.

Staegemeir is tricky to say the least. The best way to keep tracks of him is to follow his production and releases. The best way to show some of his anomalies would be for me to post some of my reference files but as i am not an Association member (due to the recent forum issues) i can´t post them.
                Regards
                Hans N

Thanks Hans - this will be one for my junk drawer.
