just a quick question, i've been offered a black WB with mm L/14 on the edge, i've only ever seen mm on the back, is this ok?

Yes this is ok for the maker mark on the edge of the award, but not so often you can find these mm awards.
All the awards i have seen maker marked like yours were with LDO marks, L/11, L/13... i don't know if this was coincidence or only LDO maker marks can be found there.sigpicComment
