    WW2 version. No markings visible, the pin/catch assembly look the same as on a black version I have - has the paint been stripped on this one?

      Stamped Gold Wound??

      This one isnĀ“t stripped down to brass-colour, but
      actually painted in gold. Comments are appreciated.

        Hi guys,

        We discussed these several times, most prominently in this thread. There never was and probably never will be a consensus. You either believe in these to be genuine pre 1945 or not.

        The only fact we might be able to state is that these all started their life as a black wound badge in pre-finish state and were turned into a gold (or silver) grade. It could very well be that some were made that way pre-1945 but it was not an "official" version of the golden (or silver) wound badge.
