    GWB 26 - Re-painted????

      Hi

Well not sure... but to me it looks all right. The goldfinish and zinc are offen not a good mix. Think the funny look are due to age and its a zinc badge.

The paint out when I pass the finger in pin.

And the paint out if I pass some acetone in the surface...

If it fails the acetone test, not a good sign. Ron.

            Imo the painting is ok.

And be careful with an acetone test on B.H. Mayer made badges ... some of them feature a really low quality finish which reacts with aceton.
            Best regards, Andreas

Thanks for replies, but IMO it is re-painted. Look the pin, there are paint uper paint.

I have no problems with it either, infact i have one my self although with lesser amount of that "wash" present, am at work though so i can´t post scans of it.

Regarding the pin and the "paint on paint" issue, nothing strange with that since the pin is a yellow tombak one that was attached to the badge as such before the entire badge received it´s final gold wash.

The finish looks proper to my eyes, and keep that in mind aceton test on zink awards can destroy original finish because not only the processing when is washed and not plated and this material can't handle over the time original washed finishes, i think you're lucky...

I would agree with your opinion. Not for me either ....
