Automatic EKII with Silver or Gold Wound Badges?

Forgive me if this question has been covered on here before.

I was reading an article on Wikipedia regarding Wound Badges which stated the following:
Automatic Iron Cross
On 1 June 1940, Hitler decreed that any recipient of the Wound Badge in Silver or Gold be automatically awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class if that individual did not already have that decoration.

I know that Wikipedia is not the most reliable sorce of information in the world, but this is not the first time I have heard this.

Recently I have been involved in discusion which involved this suggestion, which has resulted in questions being raised on whether an original source of information exists that would either confirm or dismiss this claim.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

While I cannot point you in the right direction on source material, I can relate that I came across an Army veteran who was shot through the mouth during the French Campaign of 1940 and went to Berlin for reconstructive surgery so that he could eat again!. He had a nice set of before and after pictures of the procedures as they were experimental at the time. He also showed me a very nice fitted case that contained a Silver (Spanish style) wound badge with an EKII fitted for the same case.
He was wounded out of the Army and worked in the local (Mannheim) governmental offices for the rest of the war.

I'll say not automatically but in several occasions issued the EK's along with WB's because acts of courage in the face of the enemy resulting wounds.
