Need help with L/56 solid wound badge

    Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone had pix of a solid black wound badge with maker mark L/56. the mark would rest a bit above the clasp. I own a solid
black (I was told it was black and the black came off exposing the sharp brass underneath--I thought it at first a gold badge but was told no a solid
black L/56 (I really am not sure paratrooper badges are really my thing).
For the life of me ,I've been scouring the posts and the web and I've only found hollow back black wound badges. Thanks to all who help!

Beside field made colored ones there are no "real" solid black L/56 wound badges.
    Best regards, Andreas

A question about the maker mark - is it raised? Silver L/56 examples have the mark raised in the center of the badge. Is it L/56 or L/58??

      Two other possibilities - it's a black patinaed silver L/56 or it's a black painted L/56.

Without pics, hard to be 100% certain. I agree with Andreas that there are no known genuine solid black L/56 WBs though.

        Hi Mike,
The L/56 is indeed raised but it's not in the middle of the badge. It's about a quarter inch above the hooked clasp. The badge is indeed solid backed and very brassy. I'll try to get some pix .
        Thanks,
        Dan

          Hi Guys,
After trolling through the posts, I noticed that every silver wound L/56 badge I saw, had the same hinge, the same clasp, front detail and the same maker mark in the exact same area. The badge is definetly not zinc.
I'm still trying to get those pix. It's heavy ,brassy and has a nice darkened patina to it. Like I said I took it for gold at first.
          Well, thanks guys,
          Dan
