Solid Wound Badge

Hello all,
I don't deal with many wound badges and this is the first solid back I have had in hand. I would like your opinions before I list. It's quite heavy, non-magnetic, and has a very tiny "4" stamped on the pin. Is it what it appears to be... some sort of very flat, dull black finish over brass? The black doesn't seem to be paint.

Nice worn silver zinc made woundbadge from maker 4(Steinhauer & Luck).

Somebody would maybe add thin layer of vaseline coating to it,but i myself would leave it as it is.

Like jiipee76 says it´s a Silver zink Wound badge made by Steinhauer & Lück. It´s lost most of the silver finish that it once had, some traces are still visible.

Hi,
Two additional questions;
Post Office scales show badge weight of .9 oz. approx. 25 grams. Is this correct for silver/zinc?
Is it possible that the flat black color on this badge is 60 years of silver tarnish?

Weight seems to be ok.

And where do you see that flat black color? I only see traces of original Silvering(on edges of badge from 3 o´clock to 6 o´clock) and most of the badge has lost all of the silvering and base zinc is visible.

Thanks for the confirmation on the weight.
I've probably got it exactly backwards but it seems like the black has rubbed off from the 3 to 6 o'clock and exposed the silver underneath. There's a local show this weekend and I'll see what the German guys say with it in hand.
