Early style cutout wound badge

Hi all,
Came as the only badge with a small grouping. Was also the only award in Soldbuch...

Here's how I received it:

Here it is, taped to doc:

Today I cut through the tape, got 1/2 of it off (where it's over the ugnis) although it left the sticky residue. Plus underneath where the badge was, it's kinda torn up.

Anyhoo, here's the badge front:

And the reverse, unique way of attachment...to the uniform?

Any thoughts/comments appreciated!

I have never seen one like it before. Very odd. I wonder if it is an actuall award? I was thinking along the lines of it being used on a photo album cover or something like that?

Is the badge stamped or cast? I agree with Adrian that it may have been for a photo album or keepsake box of some type. A great find and wonderful item to display with the document.
You might post with the document guys for help on removing the tape and glue from you document. A hair dryer on low heat will take the tape off but does some times leave the glue. But care must be used so the heat does not do more damage than the glue. Acid free storage is a must as well.

So...OK, What is it
We know that there were cut outs for spanish style.
We Can tell it is in the first helmet type.It sort of looks like wreath
has been broken.More ideas?? And opinions??

But the badge was certainly made with the gap to the top of the wreath. I have seen Imperial's in this design.

It definitely appears to be stamped. Whether it was originally a full wound badge, or came from elsewhere, just not sure. Some edges look like they've been "worked", others not so much.

Are badges of this design found on photo albums? I kinda thought at first it might be something from a lanyard, but just not sure. It's definitely wound badge design, but of course that doesn't make it a wound badge for sure.

Nice items and the WB i don't think that is a issue piece either.
To me it looks like a custom made WB.

id say that the reason for the strange method of attachment comes down to the fact that the original hinge was remove in the cutting out process. as it is normally found at the back of the wreath
