Is this one of the infamous L/14,s?

I have been checking out the "Collector to Collector"website and under "Medals and Badges" in the "Heer and SS" section i found item "1553".(Gold wound badge)

Is this one of the L/14 nasties with the cokebottle pin?

Doesn't look like the same type attributed to Floch ... however, I'd still be a bit leary of this one ....

        Here you go Don http://www.collectortocollectormilitaria.com/

Not the infamous L/14 floch but I don’t like this badge at all.

        Cheers,

Detlev sold an identical silver wound badge with the fluted pin a few months back but I don't remember whether it was marked or not. Anyone save the pics?
For what its worth I quite like the badge. The fading of the finish looks legit.

Here is a fluted pin example which was given the thumbs down a while back showing the pin open.

Personally, I'd like to see a few more images of what a REAL L14 massive is supposed to look like, particularly any later war/zinc variants.

Detlev had a convincing tombak version with L14 marked below the catch, but it was photographed at an angle, making the details hard to compare the other types floating around.

I have more L14 "FAKE" photo file types than real ones....The Floch FAKE, The Fluted Pin FAKE, & The Block Hinge FAKE. One or two badges put up over time haven't received a firm opinion either way, and are marked maybe.

Recently my friend showed me his L14 SWB. It features the block hinge and stamped (open 4) maker mark. It is quite thin compared to other SWBs. I told him it was one of the many repros out there.

I have an L/14 SWB with the standard hinge type.

I see these from time to time, and in reading threads, have noticed these have been given the occasional thumbs down or "mixed review". I always thought the wear to the obverse finish was fairly convincing.

Should this one go to the bin? I think the obverse features are similar to the block hinge type (although the swastika is not quite as deformed). The maker marks on all of these examples seem to feature a stamped L/14 with a closed 4.

                          Dennis,
Could you please post picture with pin closed and maybe side view of the hinge?

Sorry to hijack your thread Kiefer, but the seller you referenced is also selling one of these.

Thanks for taking a look at this as well.

                              Robert:

Here is an image with the pin closed....the better maker mark picture is taken from the same seller with the fluted pin example.

I don't have access to the digital camera at the moment, so a side view is out.
