    L/50 WB fakes?

    Hi guys,

Are you aware of any L/50 WB fakes (silver/gold)?
If you think you have an original L/50 WB (silver/gold) what does yours look like?
    Cheers, Frank

    Hi Frank:

Chris Varveris owns a L50 GWB with a block hinge & round pin setup. I believe he feels it is authentic as well.

I am assuming he will read this thread in short order, and will post his own pictures.

I am curious to know what you ran across that prompted this question, since his example is the only one I have seen. I have no L50 marked reproductions (listed as such) in my photo files.

Thank you, Dennis, I know of Chris' badge and have saved his pictures. It is also the only L/50 badge I know of apart from a golden WB I am currently holding, which I am convinced is a fake for several reasons. Looks exactly like Chris' badge apart from the maker mark, which might be minimally different in the "5." Hard to tell, Chris' maker mark pic is not very clear. The badge is made from a modern white metal and has the same setup as Chris' badge. Reverse shows those tiny scratches many fakes have. No real patina, strange finish, uneven obverse detail. Will post some pics in due time.
      Cheers, Frank
