    Chris:

All of your points make sense to me. The variety of materials and setups used on these Deschler design badges indicates that the design was produced throughout the war years.

Could these badges been produced by a sub contractor to meet demand?.......this seems likely to me at this point.

Steven mentioned L10 pins being sold to another vendor....I didn't even think of that.

Nice wound badges guys. Chris you must be thrilled to have this maker marked brass example coming your way. It is only the 2nd one in brass I have seen.

Steven....your SWB is a screamer. Nice badge.

Thanks to all three of you for responding with your ideas.

      Hi dennis,
A little off topic, but related -I think. If you look at "My wound badge collection" thread, you will see two identical Imperial badges, both bearing marks-but NOT from the same maker. I firmly believe that this practice of sub-contracting and sharing planchets, pins etc. did occur during the TR years as well. We must remember that 60 years ago, workers weren't thinking..."If we sale maker X some of our maker y pins, that is going to confuse all of those future collectors."... Sometimes we need to think in "past" tense, from the perspective of the manufacturer, and not from the present day mind of the collector.
