I am a skeptic on these.

On the one hand, the finish seems to match O&C belt buckles, but I wonder if anyone has actually tested a buckle to see if the silver finish reacts with acetone like the silver/gold finishes on these wound badges.

The main reason I am skeptical though is that O&C black wound badge finish it not reactive to acetone. So why would their silver/gold finish be reactive to it? Doesn't make sense to me that a company would use one type chemical mixture for black, but then a completely different, lower quality type for their silver and gold.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

The one and only thing we can be shure upon is that the badge it self is a original.
But when the silver finish was applied that is a completely another ballgame... they are not uncommon in silver or gold for that matter.

And yes there are perfectly legit silver hollow badges! Assmann is one of them

To me a black wound badge with sliver paint , nothing more.

IMO the hollow silver and gold wound badge are unfinished or cleaned balck wound badges.

There is no evidence for them at all. They always come with a good story and a high price, they begain popping up 10+ years ago and more keep coming.

The silver and especially the gold badge were high awards, imagine flipping a wounded soldier a hollow gold badge, no way. The Germans had respect and style in their awards.

Luckily for us all, one can believe in what one wants.

          Just my opinion

That wound badge is a late type with integral pin mounting and catch. I would believe it a lot more if it were an earlier version. In fact, I think I have a hollow silver somewhere. I will see if I can find it and post it for comparison.
