    NSDStB...fake I presume - or?

    Hi everybody,

I just got this Studentenbund badge through my door and to my big surprice this isn't what I expected to see As You can see this has no markings what so ever on the reverse wich imidiately made me and it also has some sort of dark coating on the crud looking back as well. The pin and pin plate also looks like a "no-no" to me. Looking at the obverse I can't fault it, so I would really appreciate some oppinions before I contact the dealer with a refund in mind.

I've made scans of the badge as well as photos since it appears different from what the pictures are made with.

    Cheers,
    Carsten

Photo of reverse - note due the flash it doesn't show the propper colour of the reverse, but shows the details very well wich IMHO are bad.

Scan of obverse - the red colour doesn't show correct though.

Scan of the reverse...this does look a bit too strange - right?

The NSDStB was always under the RZM since its creation, so these pins should always be marked with logo and M1 number. Sometimes they are partially obscured by the pin. Common makers are M1/52 and M1/130.

All the originals I have seen have had a characteristic 10 raised dots in each red enamel area (regular 5x2 formation like eggs in a carton). That doesn't mean there aren't other dot patterns - I've just never seen them.

The half sized stickpin generally has five dots per red field, lined up straight.

I also have a late war painted version with aluminum-type paint to the reverse, but it is RZM marked too and shows the 2x5 dot pattern.

Like them all, this badge is being faked in fairly high quality, usually with unmarked reverse. I have grave doubts about the examples shown.

            Hi Stephen

Thank You for confirming my thoughts as well as describing how it should have been A bit embaressing that I didn't noticed the red enamel issue though

            Cheers,
