Unfortunately I didn't keep the images of the cased piece which Detlev had but he does mention it in his catalogue and says that the box is a red cardboard box.

It was similar to the one which the Kreissieger badges came in.

Ron 's description is a bit misleading as it fails to mention that members of the armed forces in their capacity of administration of war production received the badge as shown in the image I posted. It was sourced on another forum as dating to mid-war years.

But of course, considering many civilians received the award and unless they were wore a member tunic of the SS or SA for example, they would have been unable to wear the large pin back award. So the lapel pin would have been appropriate as shown in this image sourced from Wikimedia Commons and attributed to the Deutsches Bundesarchiv showing WWiFu Günther Quandt, noted industrialist of the Third Reich.



But searching for more info on this badge, it is apparent their is some lack of agreement as to the badge and the history of the organization. Wikipedia dates it from 1935, attributing the WWiFu designation nominating power to successively the Wi u Rü Amt in the OKW, then the Reich Economic Ministry. I don't recall seeing any source documentation dating the creation of the badge, so I am puzzled whether presentation began in 1935 or later when the Economic Ministry took over? I know the medal books present viewpoints, but none are substantiated with documentation.

this is a most incredible post and sincerely appreciated. I have never, ever seen a case for the Wehrwirtschaftfuhrer AND the miniature before - in fact, I have never seen a case for either one!

Here is my thought - maybe the cardboard they talk about from Detlev or wherever - is the original - perhaps. But I can only think, that your example, is either THE original award case for both the badge and the miniature, or it is a specially made, jeweler's case, produced exactly for these badges, for some Very High Personage.
Like a Krupp, or a Tank.

What makes me think this, is viewing Himmler's SS badges in their special case, In Angolia's Political and Civil Awards of the Third Reich, in a special Jeweler made case, to fit his badges exactly. Your case reminds me of this.

Incidentally, I have the large badge, and it looks like it was struck by the exact same maker as yours, for it has the same shortened nose beak on the eagle, and all the other details are exact matches. However, the case for mine is an LDO, probably a case for an Iron Cross First Class, and used to house my badge somewhere down the line of history. Definitely not an original case as yours undoubtedly is.

As to the history of this badge, Ailsby has some incredible info about the recorded recipients of this badge - and there aren't very many - and he even has the Oath the original recipients had to swear to to receive the badge! I know there is a dearth of info on these beautiful badges- but the info IS available, for those who know where to look. Thanks for posting one of my favorite badges of all times, and I hope to show you mine on a post very soon!!
