Gladenbeck u Sohn were a long established founder known for high quality
sculpted figures. There are collectors who specialize in Reichskanzlei relics
they would give you an answer. Look on the Axis history forum there is
a massive thread on the Reichskanzlei there

Found this. Plate is identical but custom made case is not. Have discovered that mine also came from the U.S.A. and was purchased by a dealer in the 1970s from the vet that brought it home.

I look forward to hearing from the Reichschancellery specialists Mametz mentions. This latest piece shown by Reichenberg does have a certain look of age and wear to it -- though we should always be skeptical of such "looks!" This piece also appears to be more tastefully designed than the earlier one, which also didn't have the look of use and a tragic life to it. But this latest piece bears Hitler's special monogram, and I have to wonder why/how such a piece of hardware would be utilized within the Reichschancellery complex, either the New, Old or Siedler Annex? I can't imagine this style of door push plate being used throughout the complex, but only within Hitler's private office -- perhaps it's from his personal bathroom, which was located just off the hallway beyond the doorway situated in the corner behind Hitler's desk in his grand office? Has anyone ever seen any pix of push plates anywhere in the Reichschancellery? (Of course, most of those buildings were not photographed; only the huge public rooms and showplaces were recorded. All of the private offices upstairs and below were of no particular importance since they looked pretty much like any other office building cubicles or hallways.) Why would push plates be used? Nowadays, only swinging doors like those between kitchens and dining rooms use push plates; I'm not certain that office buildings of that period were equipped with door check systems that would have permitted the use of push plates...? Just some thoughts on a most interesting subject!

I am currantly in contact with a dealer who specialises in items taken from the Reichs Chancellery to see if he has seen one of these before, or is able to confirm that this maker did indeed produce items for the RC.

                Hello again,

Well here's another one that military trader UK offered to me.

Strange he has two isn't it?

Thanks for updating us with this additional piece, William. This newest piece does not have the same degree of detail to the eagle that the one Reichenberg provided by link did two months ago. Are they still rolling off the line?!
