    Reichskanzlei door plate

    Hello all,

Anyone ever seen anything like it? On bottom of plate is Arno Breker-Berlin-GmBH-Steinbild Hauer Werksatten.

That hunk of junque has been bouncing all over flea markets & gun shows for 40+ years, it used to be for sale in the old 1970's WW2 Products LTD Catalog from St. Louis, MO; it's pictured on page 42 in their old catalog #47.

The eagle in relief is odd, as well. It's head is out of proportion to its body, and its feet appear to be floating above the oakleaf wreath. And come to think of it, Arno Breker was not known for his designs and executions of the Hoheitsadler anyway; those at the New Reichschancellery were done by Kurt Schmid-Ehmen and perhaps a few by Richard Klein.

Made by the same guy who made all the fantast Wells Fargo belt buckles in the 70's & he was from England I guess the dies are still kicking around if Morgi has them.

I found this one on a UK dealers website and took a chance. It was a reasonable price and I know it would have sold if I hesitated. If it turns out to be wrong I will return it. I cannot post pics, but here is the link.
                    All opinions welcome.

First item in online shop at time of posting.

                    Thanks.

I should add that I researched the maker on Google and it is a metalworking company and foundry in Berlin.

If it's not from the Reich Chancellery, could it be from some other place? It looks very much original.

I can see that I'm not going to make much headway in this thread so I'll get some photo's taken and them request a full member to post them in a new thread to see if that helps. I really would like to research this door plate. I have picked up many interesting items over the years, but I am totally useless at research and study.

These have been around a very long time and I think made/supplied by Dean & Adams UK,the also made belt buckles and the fantasy 'England Awake' badges,I think the last one of these I saw was about 1981 for sale for about £12 each.John(refering to the original posters door plate and the one with the pen knife.)
