My good friend has requested an ID on this badge which appears to have been intended for some sort of plaque or award.

Hello Ron, you are right on the money... originally it would have started life as a Plaque, which would have been mounted on to a Black Ash or Oak wooden plinth. The finish which is lost to time would have originally been a silver white frosted/ anodised effect. Several years back I owned a similar one and have nio idea what happened to it.
