    May be an original plated by some GI or bike shop, but could also be a cast fake with those muddy details and the odd hole in the wreath (casting flaw?). I don't like the blobish letters, like the big "N" at the top.

    My two are crisp - tombac and silver washed brass versions.

      Hello Stephan, You make a valid point I would agree that the crispness of the detail is not as one would expect, However assumint that the Badge has been chromed this would coat over the detail and give as you described a muddy appearance.
      With reference to the Hole it appears as if it has actually been drilled right the way through so to allow the pin to sit flat, one would assume this was done accidently by who ever fitted what is definitely a replacement pin.

        Hi Martin,

        I think you're right. The GIs chromed everything at the motor pool and it's a thick coat. The hole is odd - maybe for hanging on a string before the pin was replaced.
