Impressive, lovely quality, HJ swimming award.
I would imagine that there are a great number of different award/donation/rememberance/souvenir plaques out there, most of which are new to our eyes when seen for the first time. (possibly almost as many as tinnies)

    Pete
you could be right Pete , it was described as hand cut but i wouldn t know how to tell the difference

Terry i wish you all the luck with the HJ plaque, as Pete said we have
not seen it all. It must be uncommon if Railhouse has not seen it before
        he has a fantastic collection.

will be interesting to see if any otheres start turning up soon, like others have said could be a very rare piece or a new fake who knows at the mo, the quality looks very good but then again a lot of the fakes these days look very good, but like i said in the first line of this thread will see if anymore turn up because if someone has gone to the trouble of making 1 then they have made a lot more, if no more turn up then it look far more like an original piece

Stewart , very true , i plan on keeping it so hopefully some info might emerge in the future , i m convinced its an original piece but as you ve pointed out , theres always an element of doubt , the seller has given me a lifetime guarentee so if they do start appearing out the woodwork i ll be back to him , all other items with it are good ,so i hope my judgement is also

non of the original owner , the son of a royal artilleryman himself in his 70 s with no connection to the collecting community re-discovered them in his dads belongings , i don t know where or when his father aquired these only that it was wartime , theres definitely a Dutch element here though , cheers Terry

                      upd

update ,Garry off the hj research forum has very helpfully added this information on the swimming badge the landerwettkampf of 1941 was the first year this event took place , the events were swimming and athletics , Holland took part and came third in the athletics and second (to Germany) in the swimming ,which ties in with the Dutch swimming medals this girl had ,if i can find her name on the list of participants in this event (backstroke) i will have filled in some of the gaps !

The quality of these items is really nice. The 1945 date on the glass badge is very unusual. I didn't think there would be any youth sports activities going on that late in the war.
                            Best,
                            Garry
