Well, it could be that a previous owner tried to preserve the fragile finish that this badge usually displays...though I wouldn't have done that myself! But I am skeptical of this piece since it has no RZM code on the reverse.

      Thanks for sharing this piece.

Yes, many thanks for your most helpful photo-response, Tino! Both examples of this badge in my collection were made by Werner Redo (M1/100); I don't think I've ever seen the Deschler version (M1/52), though from the examples you've shown, I can see that the main difference between the two obverses is visible in the sword hilts -- the Redo version is simpler than the more ornate Deschler. Many thanks again,

            Br. James

Thats a very interesting badge and I wouldnt be so quick to condemn it. I like the detail and the finish and the setup type is that commonly found on most sa sports badges and also a type attributed to P&L which can be found on EK1s and spanish crosses also. I am leaning towards that being a period badge but unknown variant

                  Hi Patrick.
I bought it from a very reputable dealer in UK, with COA.
So, I´m not sure I should do with it now.
                  Many thanks for your help.
                  Best regards
                  Julio
