This is – BAR NONE - the absolute best example I have ever encountered in my collecting life. It is hand-embroidered in aluminum bullion thread on soft black felt. The bullion wire threads are incredible - the top surface of the eagle stands nearly 1/8” over the surface of the felt. The condition is spectacular: the bullion wire is in flawless condition; the inner quillions of the wing are outlined in black thread. Wingtip to wingtip measures nearly 3.25”. The eagles head is facing the viewer's left, which is contraty to the standard style encountered on NSKK Officers tunics. Interesting variation! Perhaps a prototype? The reverse has the yellowish-white mesh cloth backing applied to the felt. This served as a base for the threads during the embroidery. The majority of the black paper covering used to protect the threads is still in place. Overall, the insignia appears never to have been issued or ever applied to a tunic, and is in near pristine condition. An incredible piece, well deserving of a top spot in any sort of cloth or political organization collection. Mega nice!
