S.A. Standarte 116

In my opinion, a super looking SA badge.

No date and furthermore, unclear as to whether it is an event or quite simply, a "membership" pin.

In addition, no reference to the SA Gruppe or SA Brigade and as such, somewhat difficult to identify.

I find at least 2 Standarte 116 as of 1933--the most likely is from Group Hessen, Bad Nauheim/Gießen(Lahn). There was also a Reserve Standarte 116 in the same place. The other was a Marine Standarte in Group Nordsee, but I suspect the badge might have read Marinestandarte 116 if that was the case.

As erich says its either a Marine or a Hessen abz/needle but no records of a event or a speciality for this particular sa standarte 116. some rumors say that 73 later become 116 but its only rumors that i havent investigated yet. The needle is truly a rare badge thoe i have collected for several years and not encountred more the 1 time to meet this badge ( yours is 2 time i see ), which ended up in my collection. as you can see on my badge its a Abz yours a needle so it comes in both models and imo its same princips or a forthrunner for the whw ( wintherhilfwerk ) where you can support this particular standarte or brigade both in propaganda and finansialy, my second abz ( pic 2 ) speaks for it thoe its a spende just for the SA. hope its helps a bit, but lets get back to standrte 116 lateron when we have studdiet some more

Many thanks for your comments and insight in connection with the enigmatic "SA Standarte" 116.

I suppose that "truth will be out" one day.

The notion of this pin being supporters related rather than being specific event associated is very interesting.
