It has been brought forward by David Littlejohn that this is infact an award of the HJ for those who took part in the Putch. This would give rise to the badge in solid form which very often was produced to replace the early badge. The information is in an article in Military Adviser. My thoughts are that this is the locical view of this EXTREMLY RARE badge.

Originally posted by VerKuilen AgerAt first glance the HJ putsch commemorative/award idea would seem to make sense. However, a close look at the early history of the HJ shows that such recognition would have been impossible. In a nutshell, the Reichsjugendführung was absolutely adamant that the Hitler Youth was not formed until 1926. See this thread (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...highlight=Lenk) for a detailed chronology that involves the political infighting connected with similar items of the Jungsturm Adolf Hitler (which have also -- almost certainly erroneously -- been given the status of NSDAP awards by my friend David Littlejohn and others).
