Ok the pin has JB weld on it, a cold glue type compound, I have used it too repair tinnies. It does not heat up the tinnie and you avoid burn spots.
I only use it if I have the original pin, and I feel a repaired tinnie is worth more to me than a tinnie missing the pin , And this tinnie MIGHT of been refinished, but I would like to get other opinions on its authenticity. I have 3 versions of this one. And I have a book "Hitlers Favourite Political Badges and Decorations" by Mickey Huffman and he says the ones with the left leg of the A in SA should reach to the top right of the second F in TREFFEN, not the top left of the same letter.
So the question that I have is, are these now considered (with today's knowledge base) to be authentic. As the type A treffen badge.
If so to answer Lenny W's second question if it is authentic in fine condition, I think they are worth from $100 to $150. So one in this conditon is worth considerably less.
But the main question is in its authenticity ? I have read several threads on this site and I get a mixed reaction. I always thought it to be a good example.
Mr Huffman states that he talked to a big German collector who had only seen 5 type A's in his lifetime and it is the type B that was re-issued as a badge.
Does any one have anything new to add, because I have to admit I am lost.
Mine measures right and weighs right according to some other reference books.
Thanks
Jack

Lenny,
You`re gonna get 50 people who say its a fake and 50 people who say its good. Both Tom Wittmann and Bill Shea have the same one you ( and myself included) have, for sale on their websites as original. I got mine from a very well known and highly respected collector/dealer and also believe its real. Tom has his listed for $325.00 and Bill has his listed at $595.00. Heres a picture of mine.Attached Files

Look other thread open about this first model.
For me this is not the original very first issue sold in or for the meeting in 1931, and I have my doubts about if these where made again before the second model was introduced. I consider as probed legitimate the incused lettering type only. So I want not these in my collection, but a lot of people still think that they are authentic. Commonly happens that people who trust in these as authentic are who have some of these for sale or in their collections.
Today the price for an authentic incused lettering first model SA Trefen Badge is $400-500. I think yours have to be cheaper to be sold, cause is less desiderable for many collectors, as said before.
Sorry
