Hello everyone... I'm new to the site but not new to military collectables. Most of my WW2 collection was aquired from relatives and friends who served in WW2. I'm wondering if someone could give me a bit more information on the pin below. I think it is a veterans pin perhaps signifying service in WW1 ... it was aquired along with a RAD pin and WW2 German window flag during the War by a GI. I think it roughly translates "In honor of my service in the replacement reserves" ... any info would be appreciated.
My understanding of the WW2 German military reserve classification system was that the Ersatzreserve (I) was simply any untrained man not in the active service who was under age 35. Ersatzreserve (II) consisted of untrained, unfit and limited-service men under age 35. What's to commemorate with a pin for service in this reserve ?
