But compare the text on the pinback plate and you'll see differences from mine to yours. Your text (especially the Munchen) is off-center a little.

Just an observation. Not a problem as far as I'm concerned.

Could be a replacement plate. You like to see these beat up and repaired. They were WORN and heavily USED!

But the front matches my good one in every respect!

Gold Badge

I find that the text on the backing plate is usually off centered--I believe, according to the gold party badge site, one of the earmarks of the bad ones is centered lettering, in conjunction with other differences.

Erich, then are you saying that if Ralph's text on the back of his badge is centered, it is not original since that is one of the things to look for? Mike

No, definitely not. I meant, in conjunction with other problems with a piece, a centered stamping would be another indicator. The gold party badge site mentions that the lettering is usually off center, but not that centered lettering is a definite cause for alarm, unless accompanied by other adverse factors.
