Hello Doug, It actually reads as VDA on the shields, which stands for Volksbund fur Deutschen im Ausland (VDA) people’s society for Germanism in Foreign Countries helper Badges. There are actually Thirty in the complete set. Date wise they are between 1934 -1939. Below is the complete set.

"Volksbund für das Deutschtum im Ausland" (VDA) is the correct name of this

      organization.

Not exactly. Your translation was pretty good but you wrote Deutschen (Germans) rather than Deutschtum (Germanism) in the title.

I do not know how many there were but I do know there are more than Martin shows. I only have a few but one I have is from Posen. I can scan it and send the image via e=mail if someone would like to add it to this thread. have a nice weekend. Robert

Tieste List as long as your arm.

I was just put on to Tieste's list and he's got'm on a list as long as your arm. Just about goes on forever. A whole seperate category. There's even one for the US. I couldn't belive it. I don't have the books. Just might have to invest in them to figure out just what these buggers are and what the heck they are worth. Nah, I think I'll just stumble around in the dark with this stuff. Let my kids figure it out after I'm gone or just dump it. Doug

Rare as some might be, I would assume there was one for every country or region in which Germans resided outside of Germany.

Here are the ones I have been able to put together so far as you can see there are a couple that are a little rough but those will be hopefully upgraded someday. I believe there are eighteen more for a full collection.

Just an aside. I got a ragie Bevo G von B cuff title I just love ripped off a uniform a vet friend picked up on Normandy on D-Day. He said the ground was littered with POA patches as well. Doug
