DJ arm patch Black ore red?

I have seen in some pictures from the DJ that they wear
"S" patches on the Black wool jacket.So is this patch black ore red?
Is the patch red maybe it seems to be black because the pictures are in black/ white? I am normaly an Badge collector I know not much about it.
