What is this lion pin?

Gentlemen ( and ladies),
Does anyone know what this pin mignt be. Someone said this could be a pin for a division of the Waffen SS. Is that possible? I know its not in great shape. I found it on the basement floor at an estate sale with several german coins under a work bench. Must have been there for years because some of the coins were stuck to the floor .

There is no reason to think this is a SS divisional shield. The design is not tipical for SS items. If I have to bet I don******180;t bet for this posibility.
Any mark in the reverse?

Sorry to me it looks like the lowenbrau brewery lion- look at some mugs and they are the same.
