    Rumanian Volksdeutsch Sports Badge

Here's something I've just picked up - an achievement or sports badge of the NSDAP Volksgruppe in Rumania. Apart from the one illustrated by Littlejohn, I've never seen another. Does anyone else have one, or even an idea what the market value of this thing is? I used to have a photo somewhere showing a Waffen-SS NCO wearing a badge like this, but I can't find it.

It's in heavy convex bronze, about the size of an SA Sports Badge. The back is stamped with the issue number '50' and is marked 'LZM' (not 'RZM') in Gothic.

Can anyone post the photo of the SS NCO wearing this?

I am glad you got a value. I specialise in these rarities and this is rare. I bought the Extreemly rare N.S.D.A.P.-N. Youth Branch D.J.N. sproficency badge in silver. This award was not known to David Littlejohn untill he did his book on "Foreign Legions of the Reich Vol 1" then he thought it was only in bronze. In fact Bronze, Silver - less than 10, and Gold only 1 awarded. This was valued at £275.00. This gives a relationship to the value of Robin piece. This is backed up by the Danish Party Members badge for former front-line fighters. This award was only given to Danish SS men who were on the front line. Extreem rarity. These are curently at £550.00 if they can be found.

A rare badge with a good value at the £275.00 mark. Well done Robin.

I've no idea Torsten. The 'LZM' is in a very ornate Gothic style, nothing like the RZM mark. It could just be a maker, but personally I feel it represents the issuing authority for the badge.......just like SA Sport Badges were marked 'SA Property' on the back.

I'm still looking for the photo showing a Waffen-SS man (Rottenfuehrer, I think) wearing this badge.

It was in one of the magazines (Military Advisor??) a few years back, and also appeared in a book, but I'm damned if I can remember which one.

If I find it, I'll post it.

I am also a very proud ower of such a badge. I got it 5-6 years ago for 25 Euro.
Mine is a little different, it has an nuber on the back (1XXX, sorry, I don't know the full number) and mine has an other hook (mine has a safty-hook), all other details are the same like this one.
