The form appears to resemble the AH Coasters we've seen for many years, though the eagle on the bottom does look strange in its rendering...? Is there anything engraved around the exterior of the rim?

Thanks James, no engraved on the outside of the circle.

A good close picture of the eagle would help.

I've seen other metal pieces with the same eagle marking--ashtrays with matchbox holder, small plates, trays for example with maker markings WMF, Krupp Berndorf, and Wellner. I've never found any clues as to what the meaning of this particular eagle might be, but figured it could have been used for government office items or even army pieces.

I agree, Erich. I've also seen this eagle around and, rightly or wrongly, most people seem to associate it with Martin Bormann. I don't happen to think that's correct though. More likely from 'just' a Government or party building.

a.h. - Thanks for providing the closeup. The stamp looks good to me...from the period. I concur with Chris and Erich B. regarding from a government/party building.
