This tab is in the upcoming Ratisbon's auction beginning later this month. I wanted to put it up for review/discussion. Clearly the piping is wrong and that is what intrigues me. Earlier this year, Grenadier Militaria Auctions had a Ausbildung tab that I believe could have been real but had this same exact same piping. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of that tab. Is there a batch of potential good tabs that have been ruined by bad piping? For the record, I am not a big fan of the tab pictured here.

IMO the tab is questionable aside from the piping, at least based on these images. The color of the wool looks too light for typical SA carmine, the texture/nap doesn't look right, and it appears to be a heavier wool than usually encountered.

Outside of the piping, the color is what set off the next alarm. Entirely too bright.
