Hello Forum Members,
Is this pin correct? If so I have one in my reproduction pile, just like it.
I thought it was determined that these were fakes.
Sometimes it is perception rather than reality.

Hi Jack,
Wait for more enlightened responses to be sure but notwithstanding the maker's mark (which I cant make out on yours) it looks like an aluminum M1/35 (Wachtler & Lange, Mittweida) piece I have had for a long time and was told was original when I posted it on WAF. If I remember correctly there is also an M1/17 (Assmann & Sohn Lüdenscheid) version that is very similar (solid alu, crimped pin with safety catch)

I wished I could find mine, I know I did not throw it out. But it is with some other reproductions. I sometimes buy small collections and they often have some reproductions in them.
I just store them, and ocassionally throw them away, but I know the one I am talking about is exactly like the one in my pictures.
I thought it had something to do with the position of the A, in the S-A.

Like I said, far from an expert but be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water as there are basically 2 types of SA Streffen badges. The original event 1932 "tinnie" which is hollow stamped with a wider design and the later "decoration" with the more vertical design (like the one discussed here) which exists in a variety of designs and styles (hollow tombac, 800 silver, solid aluminum etc) introduced when the badge received official recognition as an official party decoration. I think the actual lettering/text positioning might be crucial to determine authenticity on the original event tinnie but not necessarily so for the different decoration versions.

IMO the later SA Streffen decoration variations are very different than the original tinnie. Anyway... attached you will find a scan of the Assmann catalog page showing the front of their version of the SA Streffen decoration to compare to yours (note the flat head eagle). Their catalog is an accurate reference because it features pictures instead of line drawings. No back pictures of course but I've seen one before and its solid aluminum with a crimped pin like my M1/35

I have come to the conclusion that this pin is good and somewhere I have put one with my reproductions.
I will find it and pull it.
