Nurnberg 1933

Hi,

A "simple" question. Does anyone knows the name(s) of the street where the 1933 Partyrally in Nurnberg was held. What I mean is the street where Hitler is standing in his car saluting his SA/SS etc. man.

As I recall he is in front of the Frauenkirche which would put him on HAUPTMARKT str. Of course I may be thinking of another photo and another year, but he is often pictured in the market place square there as it allowed a large crowd to gather.

I agree with W.Unland. Hitler's practice of receiving the salute from the massed units of his marching 'political soldiers' as he stood in his open-topped car in the market square in Nuremberg dates back to before 1933, the first RPT of his years as Reichschancellor. I believe the Hauptmarkt was eventually renamed "Adolf Hitler Platz" in his honor, acknowledging that spot as the focal point of the annual RPTs.

I would also note that the backdrop of these events was the apse of the Frauenkirche; the main entrance was on the other end of the building.

Take a look here, should be the same location ( look to the right house, they always still sell books - as on your image !! ) ... but today ... but the name is gone ...sorry Hans Holland

It named Hauptmarkt today again

also till 1933 = Hauptmarkt
after that it was renamed into Adolf- Hitler- Platz

Later on this location also took place the Nürnberger Bücherverbrennung ( book burnings)


( and the left building with the Terrasse was called " Cafe Hauptmarkt " in that time )
