    Hofbräuhaus

    Hello,

The Hofbräuhaus in Munich was one of the beer halls used by the Nazi Party to declare policies and hold functions. On February 24, 1920, Adolf Hitler proclaimed the 25-point program of the National Socialist program in front of around 2000 people at the Hofbräuhaus, which reconstituted the German Workers' Party as the NSDAP.

From Third Reich in Ruins website: Hitler and the "Old Fighters" meet in the Hofbräuhaus on 24 February 1929 to mark the anniversary of the famous speech. Left-right: Gregor Strasser, Karl Fiehler (back to camera), Christian Weber, Hitler, Julius Schaub (back to camera), Franz Schwarz, Max Amann. Standing in the background, holding the Blutfahne, is Jakob Grimminger. (Fritz Maier-Hartmann, "Dokumente der Zeitgeschichte," Vol. 1, 5th Ed., Munich, 1943)

As you can see, my bock is exactly the same !

    Best regards

    Franck

I have been looking for a period photo of the Hard Rock because Hitler was into music and may have stopped by for a burger and beer.

                      Hi guys,

I was last there in 2005 during oktoberfest, good times. Anyhow, I took some snaps of the ceiling while I was there and they reveal a hidden past. I'm at work now, but if I remember when I arrive home I'll post the pics for all to see

                      Cheers,

                      Jamie.

Lovely Building, specially upstairs, where just a really small number of people go, missing the best part of the Building; their big Hall. I just love it.

The Beer is the most overrated beer in Munich, far from being the best, but they make good money with "Turis".

It is good to have a nice Beer their (just to add that to your CV) but eating and drinking (longer) nearby (Schneider, Paulaner, Tegernsee, Augustiner).

                          Regards

I agree. It was a must on my first visit and I go there with friends on their first vist but the Augustiner Keller and Augustiner brahaus, Hacker haus, etc are the place to go. A cold Augustiner Edelstoff on a hot summer day

The Hofbrauhaus should be visited by the historian for the AH connection. But, he spoke in various beer halls, the Hofbrau is the famous one because of the anecdote in Mein Kampf.

Plent of other places to have a beer where Hitler did, the beer garden on Odeanplatz, etc. There was a big filmed speach at the Lowenbrau keller before it was bombed.
