Presumably, this particular one was owned by AH himself, the box itself must be worth about 7000.

The unfortunate result of this sale will be that every dealer who gets hold of a first pattern Coburg will now want to set their price close to what this brought. I'm sure dealers will now say this is what one of these is worth and will also point out that the case added little value in this transaction.

So now the Schlacht um Coburg is worth 12-15K - that´s great!!
I don´t have a problem with that.

About 436 1st patterns CBs awarded and in most cases they're priced lower than RKs.
Someone got a very nice badge regardless of the box.
With most CBs changing hands between collectors, it's whatever the market will bare regarding price. How many original 1st patterns have hit any of the major dealer sites in the last few years compared to RKs for example? Again, you have to take the box out of the equation and I hope the buyer didn't pay a premium for it.Last edited by ErichS; 03-31-2014, 06:05 PM.

Thank you, Chen, for posting my two badges. I am very glad I already have them. With all the talk of the coming crash in prices, it is apparant that quality is not having trouble finding a home for considerable sums.
