    Cased Coburg

    Hi everyone,

Did you see the cased Coburg badge on Weitze's update?

Interesting, I have never seen a box nor ever have heard of one but never say never.
I once asked Steve Wolfe who has probably handled more CBs than anyone if he ever heard of a box for the badge and he had never seen one in all his years. So I think one should proceed with caution.

That said, the CB is a super nice original 1st pattern badge.

Looks convincing, I would assume there would be a box.

There could have been a box and yes, it does look very convincing but you would have thought that another would have survived to compare it to. A lot of GPB and BO boxes have survived and you would think that another CB box would have too.
Hey, it may be 100% but have never seen another to compare it with!

Lot of things we have not seen, from my perspective it would depend entirely upon the premium applied for the box. If that is substantial on an unknown box than one would have to possibly walk away, certainly seeing what a pig Weitze is on both sides of a deal.

Interesting set. Not sure but there is something about the box that doesn't feel right in viewing it. I wonder how much he is asking?

Would agree with Richard V the award is not centered in the box ,looks odd.

The box looks period, but might have been for something else as it should be centered IMO.

Well, whatever he's asking, the money is in the badge and not the box.

Erich, when is the last time you saw one of these for sale and how much did it go for?

Originals cost RM1,50. Schwede-Coburg made every effort to keep it cheap. I think they came in a paper packet. No mention of presentation in an "etui".

It is a first issue no?

                        Joe,
Yes, this is a 1st pattern badge.

                        Richard,
Think the last 1st pattern sold for about 8500 Euros maybe 6 months ago.

Don't forget that these badges were awarded during the Kampfzeit so it was important to keep the cost low to produce them.

Thanks Erich, I didn't think they came cheap.
