Hi all,
I hope this is the correct place for this post.
I am in need of a bit of help here, if possible, with infomation about the "Gauschulungsburg" Lübbecke in Gaubereich Westfalen-Nord.
Here is a bit of the info collected so far:
HJ Training center (potential Officers) 1939-1945
British Army Training Centre and Field Marshal Montgomery's HQ 1945-1958
Officers' Mess, 2nd Armoured Division 1958-1983
British Army Conference and Training Centre 1983 - present
Built under the initiative of Mayor and Lübbecker Kreisleiters Ernst Meiring, opened on the 11th June 1939 with the presence of Gauleiter Alfred Meyer, a friend of Meiring.
Now this is where any information you all might have would be much apprieciated.
From October 1944- May(January) 1945 the "Waffen-SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" were stationed in and around the "Schulungsburg" to prepare for the upcoming Ardennen offensive. The main force moved out on November 26th 1944 and reserves moved in till January(May) 1945. As you can see the dates do not really match up, especially because the British occupation started on 3rd April 1945?
Any small piece of info regarding the LAH during this time period would be a great help.
Many Thanks in advance,
Regards Eddie
