    Political Wall Eagle

Any chance this is good? Iron, appears die struck, old tape on back. Overall height is a little under 7 inches, wingspan 8 1/2 inches. Weight 1 pound 11 ounces. I appreciate the help in advance, thinking it may be a copy.

This is just like mine that I recently got, and a few people here said it's fake. Although I can't say for sure. I got mine directly from a veteran as a gift but who knows. I'd like to hear people's opinion on it aswell.

          It is a reproduction.
These have been casted over and over again for years and the details are no longer there.

They were mainly desk pieces, although sometimes hung as a wall souvenir.
There is no attachment to the back, which is a red flag.

Compare to the one in this thread-
                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=516808
(it is missing the leg stand, but is genuine, based on the front detail, and the features on the back).

                Regards,

                  Kent G.,
That's certianly what one should expect one of these to look like....there maybe variations in details but compare the quality & materials from the previously discussed clunkers...that's the only "proof" there is (rebeldevil89).

One of the must-haves for this kind of eagles is that it should have a hollow-back or scooped out reverse.

After comparing the quality of the eagle, I have to agree, mine must be post war too. The detail is really there in the feathers and head of the eagle while in our clunkers it's almost worn away. Maybe we can still find some use for them? Really nice paper weights haha.

                          Guys,

Thanks for the input. David the paint makes yours look rather sexy I must say. Rebeldevil 89 sorry for the bad news also, possibly your veteran picked it up post war (when I did shows every once is a while a vet would stroll in and buy something, 65 years is a long time for things to end up in someones belongings). It looks like he must have picked it up post war, certainly not off of a railroad car. Oh well, I think I'll paint it with a nice green for the wreath, brown for the eagle, and of course the white background with a black Hakenkreuz. Thanks for the help!
