Just got this one from the kid of the vet along with an M16 Luftschutz 60 KVKs in the packets and an army cloth german cross in gold. It's the big one with the hole on the back. Nice classic pin. Looks like it was made yesterday. Is there any chance it is real? I can post pictures tomorrow. I'm at the big Puyallup, Washington Arms Collectors, Gun Show and a couple of the local collectors had a look at it and thought it looked good to them. High quality and had a little toning I missed. Can't wait to put up the pictures. Doug

I have edited my earlier statement. I'd prefer some better pics of the obverse straight on. I think I am making out some characteristic flaws, but the enamel troubles me. I'd need to be 100% convinced from the obverse to weigh out the pin without a MM.Last edited by der-hase-fee; 10-24-2010, 01:24 PM.

Nicely done, but I am not convinced. My first impression is the Latvians are getting better...Last edited by sjl; 10-24-2010, 02:16 PM.

My first impression was "not real".
Never had one. Don't know anything about them. I just got this in a bunch of original stuff from the kid. Who knows where or when or from whom this was added to it. Anything rare and/or highly sought after I just don't buy. Basicly, I have nothing in this and didn't want to believe that it is real. I agree about the base stippling on the red not being right.
Don't all the repos have numbers and maker marks? I find it hard to believe that this is kid added to this stash as she just hated this stuff and wanted to get rid of it. Maybe the vet did. But he died some years ago. I just don't think that the quality of the repos were that high then. Hell, I don't know from nothing. Doug

The stippling under the red enamel isn't right and there is an unusual break in the inner silver ring on the front around 9 o'clock. The leaves have a very pronounced ridge you don't see except on military pin backs. There's also an odd roughness to the surface of the enamel (look at the flash on the black part) which may indicate modern fill and not true highly polished period glass enamel.
