That's what the author wants to make his readers believe: Copies (fakes) made in 1935 from an original. His reasoning is that the CB was so prestigious that is was copied during the TR to wear/show off as an "Alter Kämpfer".

That's actually true that there was some unauthorized wearing of the badge and one had to have three witnesses who already held the badge to vouch that he was there along with other verifications that the wearer was truly allowed to wear the CB and then the award document was issued to the perspective recipient .

Someone would have had to be very brave or, more likely, very stupid to wear a Coburg badge that he was not entitled to wear. The penalties would include jail time and a fine. I find it hard to believe that these were period copies intended to be fraudulently worn.

Amen, Erich! Talk about taking your life into your own hands...!! I'm sure such a person would also lose his Party membership and every other award or honor that he had amassed...God forbid it he was a GPB Träger!

This would be almost as bad as if someone that held the 2nd Issue Blood Order would try and get into the November 9th parade forming up outside of the Bürgerbraükeller and walk in the first line of march!!

Never seen or heard that story before. Punched from sheet metal. As such not made to deceive, I'd venture. But the story seems to be too far fetched.

Makes no logical sense why they would make an inferior version to use, and devalue the first ones, when the original badge was so nicely crafted. Especially as early as 1935 when material availability was not an issue. Isn’t that a souval type catch?
