    JUNGZUG WIMPEL - Complete!!!

    Hi Everyone,

Thought some of you might be interested to see my latest acquistion: a Jungzug Wimpel complete with its original pole.

The wimpel is quite a size as you'll see below.

The size, date and flag type I presume, are all embroidered to one side (chain-stitched). The other side is RZM marked.

The pole itself is marked on both pieces of wood, as well as the connecting metal sleeve.

I would imagine it is pretty rare to find a wimpel, still on its original pole. Anyway, I am very pleased with it.

    All the best,
    Toby.

FINDING ANY 3RD REICH RLAG WITH IT'S ORIGINAL POLE IS EXCITING. GREAT CATCH!! THE PHOTOS AND MARKINGS ARE QUITE INSTRUCTIVE.

                  Bob:
Why would a cloth banner have an M/3 RZM marking?

@ Tomas - Thank you. I'm glad you like it.

@ Bob - Indeed. I am very excited to have been able to add this to my collection. First such example I have seen outside of a reference book.

Can I ask how often you have encountered complete set-ups over the course of your collecting career?

The dimensions embroidered on the wimpel conform exactly with those specified in "Uniformen der HJ", as published in 1933.

As to the M3 mark, well, I am by no means an expert on RZM classifications. However, as I understand it, M3 corresponds to makers of party emblems. Given that the Sieg Rune is the emblem of the DJ, this strikes me as appropriate.

Anyway, I am delighted to own something that has been together (wimpel and pole) for 71 years! Goes a treat with my fanfare trumpet and banner!

                    Best,
                    Toby.

TobyR: Sorry, but the M/3 marking appears bogus to me based on RZM
codes normally following the format: RZM Logo with bg/####/yy
                      where: b = branch, g = group, # = firm number, yy = year of manufacture.
                      Branches included: W = wool, D = uniforms, K = clothing, B = cotton,
                      A = equipment, L = leather, M = metal (badges, daggers, flag pole metal
rings, but not the cloth flags themselves which would have been W or B).

I can't comment on the Wimpel as I've never seen one but that Westmark (or indeed Saarpfalz) Fanfarentuch is something special

I Have No Problem With This Piece. Many Of The Youth Fahnlein & Pennons Were Made Locally. Possibly, The Whole Ensamble Was Made By The Pole Manufacturer. Many Early Youth Flags Are Unique One Of A Kind Items.
