    Motorstandarte 56

    Gentlemen,

I wonder whether anyone can tell me whether there was either an SA Motorstandarte 56 or an NSKK Motorstandarte 56, & if so where they were based etc.

    Cheers
    Don

    Hi Don,

SA-Motorstandarte 56 (Gruppe Südwest), was located in Ulm, and was commanded till 1.4.34 by Staf. Karl Dörfler.

This Standarte still exist in the NSKK.

    Best,

    Laurens

Thanks Bob. The reason I was enquiring was that I've just acquired a small founding members pin for this Motorstandarte & wanted to check whether there indeed was one etc.

The badge is made well using the construction methods of the time, but I do like to do some research behind a piece when it's something I haven't seen before.

          Cheers

I saw that listed but it was already on hold--that's a fantastic badge. I suspect it's a Motor SA unit due to the eagle not having the NSKK banner, but either way it's rare. It looks like it's in great condition, too.

                Thank you Gentlemen.

I'm always sceptical when recieving any new items & always treat them as fakes until I'm convinced otherwise. The first step here was checking that the Standarte existed.....

The word PATE seems to suggest that this is a donor or supporter pin. Does that match with your research Don?

                    Schmusi,

Yes, the SA appears to have a history of issuing badges to the founding members or supporters who helped get a particular Standarte off to a good start.

Below is a badge of the more commonly seen design, this one being for Standarte 266.

                    Cheers
