    Luftshutz Air Defense Medal Collection

    Hi Folks:

I wanted to share with you my small group of Luftschutz Air Defense medals O own. As stated in another posting..I really like this medal....but I don't know why...maybe the ribbon color, the design/layout of the medal in aluminum. I just think they're cool.

The most interesting item in this group is the envelope which I found in a display case in a small flea market which used to be held in Stuttgart when I worked there from 1988-90. When I saw the envelope and asked the older woman how much for the envelope...she looked at me with a puzzled look and said..."but it's empty!" She wanted 1 DM...which I bought right away...without arguing the price.

I've only seen zinc awards maker-marked personally.

          I have a 10 for Forster & Barth and a 60 for Katz & Deyle myself ..

Katz & Deyle were a common maker

The 1st class awards you see are 99.9% of the time Souval fakes

Remember they still fake the Luftschutz II

Nice collection, thanks for sharing! They are very attractive medals, don’t know why I’ve never bought one before.
Thanks for the warning about the fakes, Ian!

Yes, amazing to fake the II, but they're out there. As a postwar Souval collector I'd love a postwar Souval 1st class, but they're always being sold at wartime prices. Very frustrating. Not sure why the 1st class is so expensive either, rarity of awarding???

This is a great 2nd class award collection btw.
