Fake(?) EK1 Spange Doc on Ebay to Guderian

    Hi

    Anyone seen this?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...item=724459504

I will eat my helmet if that is not a fake Keitel signature. I have about 5 documents with Keitel's original signature and none of them look quite like that. Looks like someone was trying really hard to copy it and could not quite pull it off. Any other comments?

Rick, please, could you ask the seller for close ups (not only the signature)

      Watch This Guy!

I looked over his auctions and had asked for PICS of a Juncker pilot badge he had on another auction. Bad badge in several ways. Sent him PICS of an original to compare with and mentioned I thought his badge was a poor cast copy. His response was that some dealer had blessed it as original. Another shyster.

            Here It Is Again...

Well, either this is the turkey that bought it off eBay and now realizes what he got and wants to get rid of it, or it's another one!

            http://www.worldmilitaria.com/cgi-bi...uery=retrieval

            Description
Description: Award document for the 1939 Spange (Clasp) to the Iron Cross 1st Class of 1914 to "General der Panzertruppe Heinz Guderian Kom. Gen. XIX. A.K." on 15 September, 1939. Signed by General der Infanterie Wilhelm Keitel, Armee Hauptquartier and stamped. 200x140 mm, unfolded, with miniscule dog-ears to two corners, on thick buff-coloured paper stock. Included with this historic document is a very rare early "concave trapezoid" Iron Cross 1st Class Spange, 42x30 mm, silver, with excellent obverse details. Reverse with a round screwback attachment marked "L/21" for Foerster & Barth, Pforzheim. The award is housed in its original hinged, 68x68 mm black grained leather custom case with a push-button opening and white satin/black velvet lined interior. Both the case and the EK1 Spange award are in a beautiful state of preservation. Heinz Guderian, one of WWII's most pre-eminent tank generals and an early proponent of armoured warfare, was among the very first recipients of the EK1 Spange for his actions during the Polish Campaign, the award having been instituted just two weeks earlier on 1 September, 1939. Price on Request.

...I am sure it is the same guy who was trying to sell it on Ebay.

I received a rather curt email from him saying that he does not send scans to people who want to "criticize it on your forum."

Well, if I was trying to sell somthing like this and I knew it was genuine, I would be more than happy to post info about it on the forum. His response tells all, in my opinion.

I've just had a look at this item as well as other items on that site, there does seem a few high value, unique items that seem to be too good to be true.
