I am going to go with a 1938 Oldsmobile for your passenger car.
Main clue is what looks to me like the rear winkers (turn signals) on the rear of the body just under and behind the last side vent window.

I also owned (my first car) such an Olds, a coupe model.

heres a photo of a very grand looking merc,note the headlights are cover but NO unit marks.
