Hello collectors

a seller I know offered me this postcard signed by hitler for 600 usd.

Can I ask you please a review of signature, original?

Hi Mike,

Sorry to say that that signature does not look original to me, though I willingly admit that I am no authority on autographs. What I do know is that that portrait of Hitler -- one of several versions produced by Hoffmann Studio showing Hitler in bust, torso and standing views and bearing a printed signature on the lower margin -- was highly mass-produced for years in post card and many different portrait sizes. So, for that reason alone, I would never trust that I was getting an original autograph on any version of that portrait.

Hi,

this Hoffmann picture was taken at the Berghof in 1939 before the start of the war (at least some shots of this session were circulating as postcards in September 1939), and knowing that Hitler stopped to sign personal autographs starting from that period, we can easily conclude that probabilities to have an original signature is quite low.

as previously stated/showed by other specialists, Hitler signatures (like many other famous people) evolved during the life of the dictator, so it is important to check the timeline of each before comparing them.
