I think the Standartenführer next to Himmler is Ernst Fick. He commanded the "Germanic House" at Sennheim, Alsace, where Germanic volunteers were first introduced to life as a German soldier.

Notice the relaxed atmosphere of everyone? Sennheim featured what was really pre-military training with a lot of marching and athletics, instead of the very tough basic training that would follow. My best guess is that Himmler is visiting the facility in the late summer of 1942 or spring of the next year, and Fick is introducing him to some of the cadre staff.

        Thank you
Your knowledge makes these photos twice more interesting, as always
He indeed was at Standartenführer rank in 1942

From the linked series of photos, it appears that one of the two Germans lying dead on the street was run over by the field car; it looks as though there is a body lying under the right front tire in at least two or three of the photos. Perhaps the car was moved during the series of photos, as the body lying directly behind the car was not always placed there -- it may have been moved from under the car's tire for some of the photos...??

          Interesting, though chilling, photo series,

          Br. James

              Hi,

Fick (driver) and Teichmann's car drove by surprise in front of an US task force coming from München which just arrived near the Stalag XVIIIA of Murnau.
The two leading US M8 armored cars fired on the arriving SS cars with 12.7 and 20mm guns. Deadly wounded, both men managed to escape the car but died on the spot a few seconds after the firing had begun.
Fick's death was already discussed on the WAF on previous topics, and many errors and bullsh+ts are unfortunately spread on the internet, even but the Stalag museum.
A book is in preparation on the subject.

              See You

                Thanks, Vince,

So is that a body lying under the right front tire, or is it perhaps just a shadow? There seems to be what looks like someone's leg sticking out from under the car...

My opinion too..the massive blood shape is very clear.

                    Hi,

only Fick and Teichmann were in the first SS car pictured below.
The 'massive blood' leak is the water from the car radiator that destroyed during the fires coming from the two M8.
The unfortunate shooting was filmed and pictured by the US WC unit protected by the two M8, but also by various unknown POWs from the Stalag main building.

                      Hi,

a Stuart of the US task force, with one of the two M8 which guns killed Fick and Teichmann.
The car radiator massive leak is clearly visible.
Teichmann is visible behind the SS car, near him is one of the member of the WC team who took the previously shown picture in the topic.

And next to Ernst FICK I'd say is future SS-Brigadefuhrer Rudolf Lohse.
