Hi,
I am currently working on the history of the 9th (Pionier) Kompanie/SS-Panzer Regiment 1 'LAH'. This unit was also called the 14th Kompanie from 15.05.1943 until 01.07.1944. The unit was formed in late 1942 by the transferring of the 3rd Kompanie of the Pionier Bataillon to the Leibstandarte Panzer Regiment.
I have a list of the 15 officers who served with the unit and found photos of 12 of them, three remain, one of whom is:
Günther Hering, 09.10.1922, SS-Untersturmführer, 21.06.1944
He joined the 9th Kompanie around 10.1944. He served with the Kompanie until the end of the war, as far as I know at the moment. He was implicated in the Malmedy Trial, but as he was never captured/interviewed he was not charged.
If anyone has a photo of this man, I would very much appreciate a copy of it for my project.
Please feel free to contact me at stoveb@hotmail.com
Thanks very much.
Steve
