Not so shocking.....I would think they were tired of eating tinned rations on these long range and dangerous patrols in U-Boat....so some fresh polar bear meat would have been a welcomed addition to their mess.

Of course it would have been a welcomed addition to their mess, Anyway you don't find a polar bear on the deck of a U-boat everyday...
